(...) Ten editions of a Biennial in constant (re)construction, open to the world and for the world, rediscovering, provoking, stirring and drawing affections, “utopia-ing” futures together. We raised the banners of Tchiloli and received positive responses, with the country’s authorities valuing this rich heritage.
Together, we analyse, engage and create in a contemporary way. Preparing ourselves for our second independences, in a future less servile and more civil. We reinvent the Roça of the Baron of Água-Izé, reaffirming the desire to reach out to the world right here.

The installation stems from the original piece Xtód. In the Cape Verdean language, in the variant of São Vicente island, xtód carries a poetic sense of being and dwelling in island life, evoking a posture of pause to reinvent the relationship of body and mind with time. It is this relationship that this suspended spindle-top invites us to experience. The literal translation of xtód as ‘be’ therefore proves reductive for the island’s worldview.
